ORONO, Maine – Former University of Maine men’s ice hockey players Mark Anthoine (Lewiston, Maine), Brice O’Connor (Londonderry, N.H.) and Jon Swavely (Reading, Pa.) have signed Amateur Tryout Contracts. Anthoine signed with the Evansville Icemen, while O’Connor signed with the Stockton Thunder and Swavely the Reading Royals.
The Evansville Icemen are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Bluejackets and the AHL’s Springfield Falcons.
Anthoine, an assistant captain, played in 146 career games for the Black Bears, including ending his career with 128 consecutive games play. As a senior, he scored nine goals and added 11 assists for 20 points. He finished his career with 26 goals and 24 assists for 50 points. As a sophomore, he tied for the national lead in power play goals with 11.
The Stockton Thunder is the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders and the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
O’Connor served as captain of the Black Bears this past season where he played in 34 games with two goals and seven assists for nine points. He played in 104 games for the Black Bears during his career, scoring five goals and 20 assists for 25 points.
The Reading Royals are the ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals and the AHL’s Hershey Bears.Swavely, a native of Reading, Pa., played in all 35 games for the Black Bears his senior season and scored three goals and dished out three assists for six points. He saw action in 118 career games with seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points.

BOSTON, Mass. — Ben Hutton (Prescott, Ontario) tied the school record for goals in a seaon by a defenseman with 13, but the University of Maine men’s ice hockey team fell to Northeastern 4-3 on Saturday night at Matthews Arena in Boston, Mass. Maine falls to 15-11-4 on the season and 9-6-3 in Hockey East play. Northeastern improves to 18-10-4 overall, 10-7-2 in conference action.
